Division 4 2012 Revisions

In the past few years we have noticed a steady decline in division four attendance. As teams move up and on to higher divisions and leagues.  In 2012 we at the IPL have worked together to try and fix this endemic problem.  We hope this revision of Division 4 will make the entry level of our sport more accessible to all.

Format: To make the formation of teams easier on new players we will be reducing team size from 5 man to 3 man in Division 4.  Game time will be reduced from 5 minutes to 3 minutes per match.

Pricing: To make entry level speedball more affordable we will be doing an all inclusive price structure. Leaving no guess work on what playing a tournament will cost you. Teams will be guaranteed 10 preliminary games and depending on team numbers possible some finals games. Entry per team will be an all inclusive price of $300.  Included is everything you need to play, equipment, all fees and taxes, as well as your paintballs for the event.

Equipment: Division 4 players will only be able to shoot league markers. The GOG Envy semi auto, with a primo loader and hpa tank. No pods will be issued in division 4, and players will be limited to one hopper of paint per match.  Each player will be issued their own set of thermal goggles for the event.  No player will be allowed to use his own personal marker, to insure a level playing field for all.

Div 4 Qualification: All players playing division 4 must be true new players. No division 3 players will be allowed to drop down and captain a D4 team as was allowed in 5 man rules. This is for first year, or inexperienced players only.  Any returning D4 players, unsure of their ranking can always contact league officials for confirmation of ranking.

Prizes: Top placing teams will be awarded medals for the event. Also a cash purse dependant on total teams entered will be awarded to the first place team.

One Day Only: To ease the burden on travel and time for parents and spouses. We have amended Div 4 to be played entirely on Saturday.  

I have no idea how to play speedball: Do not worry, before the first game is played we will do a full run through of procedures and game rules.
